| XDH516G is a Daimler Fleetline built 1969 with Northern Counties H70D bodywork |
|
|
|---|
| This unknown Model / type is almost certainly a specially shortened Daimler Fleetline, with Northern Counties body.
The general manager of WCT at the time was a Mr T Edgley-Cox, and he stamped a unique character on the fleet. (Note the translucent panels in the roof!).
The narrow front door was for luggage - especially prams - and was not usd for passenger entry: they used the centre entrance/exit. Obviously, the bus carried a conductor and not used as OMB.
(In the background are two Maidstone & District vehicles, looking like a Saloon (M&D term for single deck bus) and a Saloon Coach (M&D cream / green dual purpose vehicles, mainly used for express work to London).
[I lived in near Walsall for a time, and also worked as a M&D conductor during a University summer holiday] |

Good shot of 66554 (G454 JYG) at Tavistock. I have seen this bus more recently (February 2006) at a yard which I happen to work next door to which is in Whitchurch, Bristol.
Photo: http://buses.fotopic.net/p25917132.html
Probably scrap by now, along with sister 66584 which was also at the same yard in Whitchurch.

The North East Go transport has also recently received delivery of this new kind, sleek, modern and surprisingly par with the mercedes look philosophy. |

| this bus is in the short-lived livery of First Manchester Schools - the bus was based at the Ince Schools Unit until it was withdrawn by First.
The yellow Schools livery was used as the buses were bought from Coachmasters, Rochdale when First acquired the schools operation from that company (all they did was remove the fleet names and the red/grey stripe tha was sited above the lower deck windows). |

| CYA was one of two buses acquired by Chris Knubley of Brutonian Bus Co in Jun 79 from Hutchins and Cornelius. The other being WYD 928H. CYA was the smarter of the two and painted in the full Brutonian livery of blue lower body, red stripe and cream upper body. I worked on the fleet in the early 80s as a young lad cleaning them. This bus appears to have withstood the the test of time and I hear it is in preservation. Does anyone have any updates on it? |

| The update of this former Knotty/Brutonian AEC is that it was prepared and driven to Taunton on 4 Oct 09 for a preservation assessment. Despite having been parked up and not used for about 10 years, it apparently ran fine! The intention is that is restored in the Knotty livery, as shown in this picture. |
